Artist’s comments: My sister, Judy and I were walking down a dirt road enjoying a sunny day.  I stopped when I saw this wild hibiscus growing among wild flowers.  The sun was shining at an angle that cast gorgeous shadows across the flower petals, and made the leaves glow with sunlight coming through them.  It was magical, so I had to take a photo, and I began this painting not long afterward.  It still brings a smile to my face as I remember that special day with my sister as we both enjoyed this unexpected beauty.
