About the Artist

Vicki Monette graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education. After graduation Vicki worked in retail advertising for many years.

At that time, all retail advertising was drawn by artists. She was a staff artist for Goudchaux’s Department stores, drawing their newspaper ads. She has also worked as an artist drawing freelance for J.C. Penney, Woman’s World, and many other retail stores. She was Advertising Director for Margie’s, a chain of women’s clothing stores in Texas. Vicki worked at LSU Press in their Art Department, and she has illustrated several books and book covers.

Today Vicki paints and draws what inspires her. She works mostly in watercolor or in pen and ink. Vicki likes to paint large, bold paintings bursting with color and design. She paints in a very realistic style, often enlarging the object so the viewer can enjoy larger-than-life details.

"I love to capture the moment for others to enjoy. All of my paintings bring back sweet memories to me of when and why I painted it. It is a joy to share that excitement with the viewer."
